If you download music with Frostwire/Limewire with an antivirus program is there still risk of virus

I've heard about how Limewire and Frostwire are really bad for getting viruses, but is the risk still there if you have an antivirus program?

Is there anyway to scan the songs before you download them?

Advice please :)

I know that Limewire tells you whether a file is good or bad to download or whether it has a license. If something like that pops up then thats a sign not to download that file. You are not protected by an antivirus program if you download an infected file. Just look for files that already have alot of uploaders those are ussually the ones that are clean but if you find a file that has only one person offering that file I wouldn't download it. Also pay attention to the size of the file, most MP3's range from 1000 kb to 10000 kb, anything less or more I would be concerned about.

Absolutely! You see, its not the actual downloading of the files that poses the problem... its when you open/run them that poses the greatest threat. Also, alot depends on what Antivirus you are using. Personally I stay away from the mainstream ones (i.e., McAfee, Norton). I use Nod 32 from Eset... I've had a squeaky clean system for more than 2 yrs now!
Don't download illegaliy. itunes or CDs
Virus software will not trap a virus in a downloaded file. When you confirm you want to download and install or run it, you are effectively telling the virus software to leave it alone, otherwise it would always block you. You can't scan files on the web server.
