Virus blocked internet explorer and norton antivirus.?

Guys i have a big problem in my pc. my sister got a virus which blocked norton antivirus (which is sux, norton is always down when a virus gets into a comp) i cant scan or do anything plus this virus blocked me from scaning online i tried symantec security check and kaspersky online virus check. is there any other way to find the location/s of the virus? thanks a lot

As the previous answer said boot to SAFE MODE (tap F-8 while booting) turn off SYSTEM RESTORE, and restore the computer to a date prior to the infection time. Run the virus scan 2 or 3 times then turn system restore on again and boot normal. That will get rid of most all virus's. I use McAfee and yes they have a free online scan. I am assuming you are useing Windows ME or later.

Try booting in to Safe Mode and then run a full scan. If that fails you might need to use HijackThis, but that requires specialist advice from a site such as http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f...
