How to get rid of annoying antivirus pop up?

Everytime I turn on the computer, a popup reads: Your EZ antivirus Subscription has expired.

Then they give me a link to renew, but I don't want to renew. I checked in Add or Remove programs but it's not there...how do I get rid of this popup from 'CA computer Associates"

Check if there is a folder C:\Program Files\EZ Anitvirus

There may be an uninstall.exe file in the folder.

Just deleting the folder does not fully uninstall a program because it can put files all over the place and entries in the registry.

You should download CCleaner and click on Tools button. The n select EZ antivirus from the list of programs to uninstall.

Try a online antivirus scanner and a online anti-adware/malware/spyware scanner in safe mode with network to clean up your computer BEFORE you download anything. This because the program you download can get infected.

To reformat your hdd is always the last option.

Disable "System Restore" for Windows Me and XP, then restart your PC to clean your system restore points for viruses, spyware, adware etc.

Now restart in safe mode.

To get in safe mode Press "F8" upon boot up.
