Sounds like the virus has got a grip on you pc. You may have to reformat you hardrive and reinstall everything, unfortunately you may loose a lot of personal stuff, unless you can download ccleaner or spybot search n destroy and run those first before a reformat. also Systems Mechanics 7 is good you can download there 30 day trial and see if that works. When you reformatted windows and saved it you probably saved the virus as well. As soon as you detect a virus just shut off you pc.
Get rid of it and install Avast free home version.
After a re-format you have to re-install the CD ROM drivers.
Any version of Windows since W95 has had disk drivers as part of the OS. No need to install what is already there. I suspect that you have a corrupted reinstall of Windows. You said you "formatted Windows" Do you mean you reinstalled it or formatted the entire disk? If you nuked the hard drive, you must reinstall the chipset drivers, video drivers, sound drivers, network drivers, and anything else that Windows says you need drivers for in Device Manager. If you just reinstalled Windows, you may have a corrupted installation. This will happen at times. Simply reinstall it again and see if that solves your problem. Hope this helps.
PCTools products do get good reviews. The good thing is they have free versions of their products. They work great. Spyware Doctor from the Google pack is a must. I highly recommend it. I bought Webroots Spysweeper and spyware doctor finds stuff spysweeper does not. Having both is a perfect combo and I recommend running two anti-spyware products.
